I am very thankful that I am a part of the wonderful staff at Juan Bautista de Anza Online Charter School. Before I started to work at JBdA, I taught 8th grade English at a traditional brick and mortar middle school and was the chairperson of the English department. Eventually, I became a stay-at-home mom for seven years. I loved spending the time with my two children, but I always knew that I wanted to return to teaching.
I earned my Masters of Education in Leadership and Curriculum and wrote my thesis on Multicultural Literature and how it can build tolerance of other cultures in youth. I have always enjoyed inspiring students to write and to appreciate the writings of various authors. I found my love for the English language in college when I had some passionate Literature professors, and in turn, I wanted to share that passion for English with younger students who find English challenging.
In today’s world, I feel that it is very important to stay current in education, and I believe JBdA is a ground breaking school that will pave the way for online learning. I am thankful to be a part of it. In my spare time, I love spending time with my children, reading, cooking, horseback riding, traveling and exercising.
